• 1/2 cup unsalted butter, room temperature

Buttercream Frosting:

• 1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
• 4 cups powdered sugar
• 2 tsp vanilla extract
• 2-3 tbsp heavy cream

Instructions:

1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
3. In a large bowl, beat the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in the vanilla extract.
4. Add the dry ingredients in three parts, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients.

• 1/2 cup unsalted butter

Ingredients:

• 2 cups all-purpose flour
• 1/2 tsp salt
• 2/3 cup shortening
• 6-7 tbsp cold water
• 6 cups thinly sliced peeled apples
• 3/4 cup sugar
• 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
• 3/4 tsp ground cinnamon
• 1/4 tsp salt
• 1/8 tsp ground nutmeg
• 1 tbsp lemon juice

Instructions:

1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
2. In a bowl, combine the flour and salt. Cut in the shortening until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Gradually add water, tossing with a fork until dough forms a ball. Divide in half.
3. On a floured surface, roll out one-half of the dough to fit a 9-inch pie plate. Transfer dough to pie plate.
4. In a large bowl, toss the apples with sugar, flour, cinnamon, salt, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Pour into crust and dot with butter.
5. Roll out the remaining dough to place over the filling. Trim, seal, and flute edges. Cut slits in top.
