  Govind Mohan, a 1989-batch IAS officer from the Sikkim cadre, has been appointed Union Home Secretary, succeeding Ajay Kumar Bhalla. Previously Union Culture Secretary, Mohan holds engineering and management degrees and has a strong background in both state and central government roles.

  Govind Mohan holds an electrical engineering degree from BHU-IIT Varanasi. He has been serving as the Union Culture Secretary since October 2021. His extensive career in government includes two previous stints in the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
